Welcome to The Honey Pot House

A Nursery in Leeds Where Childhood is Cherished

Nestled in the heart of Kirkstall, Leeds, The Honey Pot House Day Nursery is a warm, welcoming hive for children aged 3 months to 5 years. We are one of the most sought-after nurseries in Leeds, offering a truly unique approach to early years education that puts your child at the centre of everything we do.

Unlike traditional nurseries, we do not follow rigid lesson plans or prescribed activities. Instead, we create rich, inviting environments — what we call provocations — and trust children to lead their own learning. This child-led, play-based approach means every day is shaped by genuine curiosity, natural wonder, and the individual interests of each little bee in our hive.

Our nursery rooms are designed with intention. From the sensory-rich calm of Hive 1 for babies, through the bustling curiosity of Hive 2 for toddlers, to the confident exploration of Hive 3 for pre-schoolers — each space is crafted to support development at every stage. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework through our own distinctive Beehive Curriculum, which weaves together early maths, literacy, physical development, nature exploration, and understanding the world.

Families across west Leeds — from Kirkstall and Headingley to Armley, Burley, Bramley, Horsforth, and Meanwood — choose The Honey Pot House because we offer something rare: a nursery that treats childhood with the respect it deserves. Our qualified educators, forest school sessions, nutritious home-cooked meals, and deep partnerships with parents create an environment where children do not just attend nursery — they thrive.

Our Environment

Passionate, caring, and deeply attentive educators who pour their hearts into every interaction. Our team brings warmth, creativity, and genuine love for early childhood to everything they do.

Our environment is carefully curated with natural materials, open-ended resources, and spaces that invite children to lead their own learning journey. Every room is filled with soft lighting, wooden furniture, natural textures, and carefully chosen provocations that spark curiosity. From the calm sensory spaces in our baby room to the collaborative project areas in pre-school, each environment is designed as the third teacher — a space that communicates possibilities and invites children to explore, create, and discover at their own pace. We believe that when children feel at home, they learn best.

"We place the honey — and trust children to follow the buzz."

Why Families Choose Us

More Than Childcare —

A Philosophy of Childhood

We don't just care for children — we champion their right to a childhood full of wonder, freedom, and genuine discovery. Every element of our nursery, from the provocations we place to the relationships we build, is designed to help your child flourish as a confident, curious learner ready for school and for life.

Child-Led Learning

We follow the child! Every child's interests, pace, and curiosity shape their day. No two days are the same — because no two children are the same. Our practitioners observe, listen, and respond to each child's unique fascinations, creating personalised learning journeys that honour individuality and nurture a lifelong love of discovery.

Emotional Wellbeing First

Before any learning can happen, a child must feel safe, seen, and loved. Our key person approach ensures every child has a trusted adult who truly knows them. We prioritise emotional security through warm, responsive relationships, calm environments, and gentle transitions — because a happy child is a learning child.

Strong Relationships

We build deep, lasting bonds — with children, with families, and within our team. The hive works because every bee matters. Through our FAMLY app, parent partnership evenings, open-door communication, and shared observations, we create a community where families feel connected, informed, and genuinely part of their child's nursery journey.

Nature-Rich Environment

From our Golden garden to our forest school sessions, nature is woven into every day. Children who connect with the natural world grow into curious, resilient people. We believe outdoor play is not a treat — it is a necessity. Our children explore mud kitchens, climb trees, plant seeds, and discover minibeasts, developing physical confidence and environmental awareness in the beautiful green spaces around Kirkstall and Leeds.

Unique Honey & Bee Philosophy

Our approach is distinctive, rooted in philosophy, and deeply intentional. We don't follow trends — we follow children. Inspired by Froebel, Rousseau, and A.S. Neill, our Beehive Curriculum places the child at the centre of everything. We place provocations like honey, and trust children to follow the buzz of their own curiosity, creating a nursery experience that is truly unlike any other in Leeds.

Trusted & Awaiting Ofsted Registration

With qualified educators who are passionate about early childhood, your child is in safe, caring hands. What Our Families Say

“I've previously worked with all 3 of the lovely senior management and I'm just going to write a few words so you can get to know them a little more too!

Megan — She's so active and imaginative, always coming up with fun, creative ideas, and she's incredibly caring towards every child. She brings so much energy and heart to everything she does, and I'd absolutely recommend her time and time again!

Maryam — is just as amazing as she seems! She's so gentle and caring, but also such a great leader — confident, organised and always guiding everyone in the right direction. I've learnt most of what I know in childcare from her, and I can't recommend her enough.

JJ — She's exactly the kind of person you want around children — like a best friend or big sister to them, always kind and approachable. She's also really keen on getting kids active and moving, making sure they have fun while staying engaged. I'd definitely recommend!”

“Maryam has been an amazing key worker for our daughter and made our first nursery experience so positive. She was always warm, friendly, and approachable, and quickly built a lovely relationship with our child.

We really appreciated her open and honest communication, and how she always put our daughter's needs first. She listened to our feedback, made changes where needed, and made us feel fully involved.

Her monthly reviews were detailed and thoughtful, with clear early learning goals and high aspirations for our daughter, even at such a young age.

Maryam made what can feel like a daunting milestone such a positive and reassuring experience for our family, and we are very grateful for all her support and care.”

“Maryam, Megan and JJ have all at some point in the nursery years been key worker to both my children, they have honestly given them the best start to early years you could ask for.

Their attention to getting to know and understand your child and what their temperament is and what they like etc is spot on. Their ethos is fully child-led play, where because they know your child so well they continually strive to create activities and a learning environment for which your child can thrive.

My little boy still talks to this day about the train track & tunnel that Megan had him building and that he got to make his nursery class his favourite meal mushroom risotto. Both my children also absolutely love their sport and I think this is in part the girls who loved to introduce them and create activities around different sports including tennis, yoga, dodgeball, majorette's to name but a few.

I always knew my children were in safe hands when they were at nursery with Maryam, Megan and JJ.”
